Back in January we brought you a great after-car-show burnout-fest from Philadelphia and now we’ve got another one from the same show, taken just last weekend. While we can’t necessarily condone the behavior, we can certainly enjoy it.
The Philly area has been a hotbed of street racing for a long time, despite a crackdown from the po-po in the late 90’s and early part of this century. For a while it was impossible to hit any of the known areas, as the men in blue had no problem with turning on the fire hydrants and wasting thousands of gallons of city water in an effort to keep the racers home, and not out in the public domain.
As you can see from the video, those efforts have largely failed. With eight more minutes of edited video burnouts and ridiculous behavior on tap, even including some ghost-ride activity as seen above, it’s clear that there is no fear in the City of Brotherly Love. It’s also interesting to note that there seems to be a huge proliferation of Mopar vehicles and imports in an area that was traditionally a hotbed of Mustang activity.
But the Philly phaithful street racers and show-goers don’t seem to think much about the potential for injury and destruction. Especially the guy from the second video just above, who appears to not have such a good handle on what under- and over-steer are, as he drives off the road and right into the retaining fence.
Luckily for him, the fence stopped him from sustaining any further damage, as the drop-off on the other side is more than 50 feet straight down to the lower section of roadway. Luckily all the guy gets are some hurt feelings – and a huge bodyshop bill on his brand-new car. Moral of the story? Don’t be an idiot.
