Spotted rolling down the red carpet pavement, of the Hollywood streets recently, none other than Steve Saleen in what appeared to be a Bee-spoke supercar version of the Corvette. Could it be, a Saleen badged variant of the Corvette? With the recent release of the Saleen treated Telsa Model S, the Saleen team is showing interest in continuing to expand their reach into the market and enlarge their portfolio.
It’s not everyday you see a car this unique cruising the streets of Tinseltown. The man who spotted this mysterious beast, decided to follow it and capture footage of the ride on his cell phone. As he cruised up along- side of this mystery car, he quickly noticed Steve Saleen in the pilot’s seat. Simple interest now turned to a need to know curiosity. The driver then followed the unmarked car, trying to figure out exactly what is was.
At the next possible light, the on the spot videographer, engaged Saleen in some stop light chit chat. Saleen verified, the ride he was piloting, was a Corvette-based prototype. He also added this angry beast was feeding around 850 HP to the rear wheels as well.
This creation, sporting a rear window split design, appears to have a touch of C6 and C2 styling on a C7 platform from what we can tell from the video footage. However, from some angles one might see more of a C6 base underneath. With that said, why Saleen would use the C6 platform over the C7, which is stronger in technical attributes, is unclear if that’s truly the case. Obviously in its development stage anything is possible.
So the question to ponder would be, is this a Corvette-based sports car or is this a Saleen treated modified Corvette? Knowing Saleen’s history of dropping teasers and stirring hype, it is more likely a Saleen touched Corvette in the works, spotted on the Hollywood streets. Where else better to drop a hint, then the red carpet pavement of Tinseltown? What do you think? Have we seen the first sneak peek of a Saleen badged Vette?
