A barn blaze, sparked by a nearby mobile home explosion, has sadly destroyed a classic car collection owned by Leonard Johnson of Weld County, Colorado. Recently this amazing fleet that included seventy vintage Cadillacs were torched and destroyed beyond repair in an out of control inferno.
The sad loss off this classic fleet is estimated to be around two million dollars, with a total loss of five million which includes property damage to the facility housing the autos and surrounding buildings. That’s according to two private insurance investigators working the case.
ATF, which were called to the scene due to the large scale of loss, believe the fire that occurred at 3163 Lowell Lane on October 8th was ignited by a gas leak on the premises. However, Mountain View Fire Rescue stated the firefighters do not have conclusive evidence as of yet on how the gas leak started. The cause of the fire has been listed as undetermined at this time. The mobile home where the fire began was reportedly unoccupied.
With two private insurance investigators also working the incident, they are also looking into the cause of the blaze as well. Leonard Johnson, sadden by the loss, stated that while they are fun toys and he and his business partner enjoy them immensely they are replaceable and they will work to rebuild their thirty year collection.
Even with the loss of seventy classic Cadillacs, overall this only equaled to about a quarter of the complete collection housed on the property. With that said, a dozen more vintage rides arrived on the lot the same day of the fire literally as firefighters were still battling the fiery flames. However saddened by the loss, Johnson fortunately was able ride off into the sunset at days end in one of the many vintage autos that escaped destruction. Unsure if any are able to be restored, would you breathe new life back into one of these lost beauties if they were not beyond repair, or would you lay them to rest?
