An Eight-Wheeled Cadillac For Conquering The Outback

8wcaddyThe perceptions of what America is can be drastically exaggerated depending on where you go. Many people imagine Americans as universally overweight, lasso-wrangling cowboys with Texan accents, leading to some rather unfair and stereotypical portrayals in the media. Then again, when we first saw this eight-wheeled, spa-toting Cadillac, we were sure it had come from Texas.

8wcaddy2But we were wrong. Hemmings Auto Blog reports that this eight-wheeled Cadillac was imported to Australia from Texas, before undergoing a radical re-imagining that turned it into a mobile entertainment venue. It’s up for auction soon, though this crazy Cadillac requires a special kind of buyer.

This 1977 Cadillac Eldorado was imported to Australia bone stock from Texas, as you might imagine, and then the Aussie owner went nuts with the modifications. Using Holden truck axles and stretched sheet metal fenders, the Cadillac gained four additional tires. The front-drive Cadillac steers with all four wheels, though that isn’t the end of the modifications.

Sometime after turning it into an eight-wheeled monster, the Cadillac was sold to a new owner, who stretched the rear end and added a two-person hot tub. Up front is a fold-out propane grill, while the inside gains a whiskey bar, in-dash television, and various other luxury improvements to make this Cadillac one of a kind. Would you even attempt to take this out on a cruise night?
