SEMA 2014: ROUSH Brings High-Tech Upgrades To 2015 Mustang Lineup

A more aggressive fascia, bumper and grill are just some of the new parts from ROUSH this year.

ROUSH Performance hit the ground running at the 2014 SEMA show. The storied Mustang modifier brought out products for all levels of Mustang, from the base V6 to the EcoBoost and the GT. They’re even working to produce some industry first technologies that we found absolutely amazing.

EcoBoost Intake

Forced induction always benefits when you can get more air to the compressing mechanism. In the case of the EcoBoost Mustang, that’s a single turbo. Directing cooler, air, and a greater volume of it, is ROUSH’s new EcoBoost Cold Air Intake System.

This system uses a significantly larger air induction tube, as well. Owners can opt to disconnect the sound tube or leave it in place. The system features a ROUSH high flow air filter and replaces the induction system from the air inlet and filter, to the inlet of the throttle body.

A butterfly-valve inside the exhaust tube allows the muffler to run straight-through, partially route the exhaust through passages in the muffler, or even completely for quiet operation.

Actively Exhausting

Active exhaust isn’t new to the world, but it’s never been done to a Mustang before. ROUSH active exhaust allows users to set a profile for noise level. The sound can range from indiscernible from stock, to track day ready. This is achieved by using an electronic actuator which is tied into an on-dash control unit. Owners will be able to select their exhaust noise level based on their preferences or situation.

Making the system even cooler, ROUSH is working to tie it in to a smartphone app, allowing for wireless bluetooth control, and setting up exhaust profiles. When the system is released to the public, owners should be able to do anything from select a new mode manually, to creating profiles for traveling through neighborhoods or quiet zones. The system could also be setup to make the car louder or softer depending on speed signal, length or trip, etc.

Appearance and Aero

ROUSH was also showing off their new body kit and line of parts for the S550 platform. These parts are made in the USA, at the company’s Livonia, Michigan facility. The Stage 1 package, which is what we were able to see, features a more aggressive hood and front lower splitter/bmper cover. Sail planes on the sides, as well as a new spoiler located at the rear of the car.

The future looks bright for ROUSH and the Mustang. As the cars become more available and powerful, we’re convinced ROUSH will be there to help provide what the market demands of them.
