One of the very first things automotive performance enthusiasts do to their new cars is put a new set of pipes on the exhaust system, and just as important to the owner as the power gains achieved by an aftermarket exhaust system is the sound it makes. If it doesn’t sound right, it ain’t cool.
Flowmaster has been all about power gains and just the right sound when developing new exhaust applications, and the company has hit the right note with its new products for the 2015 Mustang. Two new systems are available from Flowmaster for the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, excluding the EcoBoost V6, and those are the Outlaw Axleback, and the American Thunder Catback and American Thunder Axleback systems.
Alex Ortega of Flowmaster told us, “These new systems from Flowmaster are all stainless steel, come with four-inch polished stainless steel tips, bolt right up to the headers, have all the necessary hardware, and they carry our lifetime warranty.”
All of the company’s existing systems consist of a three-inch pipe up front, then a 2.5-inch pipe with a three-inch inlet, and four-inch tips. The entire system is painted black so that it blends in with most cars, the only thing visible is the four-inch polished tip.
“The third ‘sound’ category,” as Ortega put it, that you will see from Flowmaster is the Force Two. Ortega described it as, “very quiet and very mild, you will only hear it under heavy acceleration.” That system will come out in March of 2015.
The company is also working on some scavenger x-pipe-style cross over pipes for the 2015 Mustangs. The cars are equipped with an inline resonator up front, so these new cross-over pipes will be for the owner that is looking for a more noticeable and aggressive tone.
Ortega also told us, “We are looking to come out with some exhaust products for the EcoBoost, because it’s a very popular engine.” For more information on current, new, and soon-to-be-released performance exhaust systems for your car or truck, stay tuned to the Flowmaster website and Facebook page.
