If you’ve ever wanted to combine a classic muscle car with a modern powertrain, you may have missed an awesome opportunity. An eBay lot was posted in early April which gave bidders an opportunity to own a ’73 Barracuda along with a HEMI engine from a ’09 Charger R/T. Although the seller acknowledged the possibility that some bidders might be interested in the ‘Cuda and engine being sold separately, he posted in his description that he was not interested in separating the HEMI conversion package. Thanks to our friends at Autoholics.com for bringing us the news.
The Lemon Twist Yellow Barracuda was offered as complete and in almost original condition with only 30,967 miles. The body on the car was advertised as being solid with only a little bit of rust.
Some body pieces that had rust, such as the trunk panel, were being offered with replacement parts included in the whole package. The interior sounded like it had ordinary wear and tear but had been maintained very well.
The ’09 Charger HEMI engine included in the package had only 46,000 miles on it. The seller advertised the engine as having 368 horsepower and 395 foot-pounds of torque. If there was a reserve on the lot, it was extremely low because after 29 bids, the lot sold for just $9,800.
It seems that someone got a heck of a deal. Even if the highest bidder plans to separate the package, they still came out well below the price that could have been asked for this package. Although separation is possible, we hope that the person who won the bid really appreciates the potential that this HEMI conversion could have and does it justice.
