The more we look at the 2011 Charger, the more we like it. What appeared initially as just a mild styling refresh from the previous model has turned out to be anything but! We recently found a terrific thread on the topic over at RedLetterDodge.com, and it’s worth a read. There is no doubt that when many people think of a Dodge Charger that images of the General Lee, the Bullitt Charger, and the Daytona’s that dominated NASCAR for a short time came to mind. That fact was not lost on Dodge stylists, and many styling cues from the ’68, ’69, and ’70 models have been incorporated into the new Charger.

To begin, the grille was moved outward just a bit giving it a longer hood, and the twin hood indentations made famous on the ’68-’70 models was placed there. he door scoops from the ’70 model were inverted and laid into the driver and passenger doors, and the tail lights looks very familiar to those on the ’69 and ’70 models. Each change was made subtly and done with a “whole car” concept in mind.

When Tim Wellborn of the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum laid eyes on the 2011, he commented, “The best thing was that these cars, the Charger especially, looks right at home with the classics; it’s finally a Charger that looks like a Charger.” We’d have to say that we agree!
