The long anticipated wait for the 2016 Camaro is finally over. The car was unveiled today at Belle Isle, Michigan, in front of several hundred media types, to a rousing cheer. For months, there has been an untold amount of hype leading up to this day, and now we finally get to see if it was worth it—who are we kidding, it’s a new, better-than-ever Camaro—we’re sure it is!

The celebration of the new Camaro began at 8:30 a.m., kicked off by a procession of more than 350 Camaros cruising around the Grand Prix course at Belle Isle. Chevrolet opened the museum of historic Camaros at 10:00 and enthusiasts were even buckled into the seat of a Camaro Z/28 so they could ride along during hot laps around the race course.

When the official announcement was made about the unveiling, all public invitations had been claimed within hours. Although there was a waiting list, we’re that those 2,400 hopefuls were just that, hopeful. Would you give up your invitation for the Chevrolet unveiling of the century?

One of the big discussions on many of the forums had to do with engine choices. Well, Chevrolet is starting with a turbo four cylinder as the “entry level” Camaro, engine. We agree with their thought process, as they believe that engine choice would make sense to a lot of buyers. For you power junkies, your V8 engine is now the LT1.
