As a video posted on Autoholics.com shows, it didn’t take very long for a certain excited driver to wreck his baby. I bet he wasn’t too excited about that.
The video shows a U.K. Chevette pulling onto a street and accelerating away. Just after the car gets straightened out, it starts to fishtail. While the driver seems to keep it under control for a couple seconds, the fishtailing gets more excessive. The car then careens off the left side of the road, smashing into the back of a parked car.
Because the video is shot from some distance and to the rear of the car when it wrecks, it is not apparent how much damage was done to the front end of the vehicle. All we know is that the Chevette rear ended the parked car at a decent rate of speed, and with such force, that it caused the parked car to roll forward down the street.
There is quite a bit of speculation about what really went wrong, causing the driver to lose control in this video. Some individuals that have commented on the video seem to think that something broke, or that possibly a tire blew.
Others seem to think that the driver was incapable of handling the torque of his car, overcorrecting to the point of certain demise. Either way, it is a shame to see a nicely kept pro-touring car wrecked on the side of the road. We hope that if the car is ever fixed up again, the driver thinks twice about the consequences of barreling down the street, especially if this crash was the result of inadequate driving experience.
