If you have never traveled to Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise, you don’t really know what you’re missing. Every year tens of thousands of people and rolling pieces of automotive art make the trek to Detroit, and although the event is officially only for two-days, the week preceding Dream Cruise is filled with unofficial happenings.
The actual cruise along Woodward is in reality, roughly 14 miles. Get that stretch of highway filled with cars, and you have a very slow, rolling car show. We were perusing the Chevrolet Performance web site, and came across their blog, The Block. With over 100 images to catch your eye, you could plan on spending an entire morning just looking at them all. As you can imagine, Chevrolet had a huge display set up in the “Triangle” featuring their new Corvette and Camaro, and GM Heritage was showing off a few iconic cars.
Hanging out at the Chevrolet booth was the legendary Linda Vaughn and 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion, Kevin Harvick. Walking down to Memorial Park, led you to where Chevrolet Performance was set up. It was performance related Chevrolet, it was on display for enthusiasts to learn about. Chevrolet was definitely a pillar of the event, and the Chevrolet Performance display was the only display open Thursday through Saturday.
The Dream Cruise is an unbelievable event filled with passion that is energized by enthusiasts that bring out their pride and joy, and the spectators that sit on the side of the road. Spending the week on Woodward can not only relieve the stress of everyday life, but solidify your feeling of belonging to a great a group of hobbyists, the car guy.
If you’ve never been to Dream Cruise, you need to place it on your bucket list, as this truly is a must-attend spectacle. But if you weren’t able to make it this year, you can check out all of the images at Chevrolet’s blog, The Block.
