When Dodge announced the Hellcat Charger and Challenger, the first thing that many of us noticed was that they have pretty massive meats all the way around, with the same 278/40ZR20 tire size front and rear.
The second thing we noticed was that it needed a wider tire in the rear; it needed a bigger contact patch on the ground. Already potent with 707 horsepower from the factory, it was pretty easy to see that shredding the Pirelli P Zero tires was an easy task for the supercharged Hemi.
When Pfaff Tuning decided to do a few modifications to a new Charger SRT Hellcat, it decided that the rear tires just weren’t big enough, either. Although the factory size was retained up front, massive 305/35ZR20 Pirelli P Zero tires were mounted in the back. To accommodate this wider tire, Forgeline was called upon to wrap the new meats around the VX3C-SL wheel.
The VX3C-SL is a three-piece wheel from the concave series and is custom made to order. It utilizes a stepped lip that locates the pad inboard of the outer rim to depth with the wheel center, giving it a modern musclecar look. The wheel, like many Forgeline wheels, is available in virtually any color or finish. It’s assembled with hidden ARP stainless steel fasteners to give it a cleaner look.
With the Hellcat Charger’s 204 mph top speed, Pfaff wanted a better stance and ride control. So KW coilover sleeves were installed on the factory dampers and dropped the car a little to give it better road handling capabilities. To match the Black Hellcat’s exterior, the VX3C-SL was finished with satin black centers and a transparent smoke outer shell, providing great contrast to the massive six-piston red Brembo calipers.
