Someone just got one steal of a deal on a rare ‘69 Ford Rio Grande Ranchero on eBay. Although the car was not in original condition, the new owner got the car for much less than it was worth. While the Ranchero wasn’t the most sought after car, this one was in good condition and will make a wonderful project.
The car is one of 816 Rio Grande Rancheros ever made. This particular Ranchero was built with a 390cui engine. While the car is in good condition, many original parts have been swapped off of the car. The engine was switched out for a ’69 351cui Windsor engine. The original radio, steering wheel and wheels were all pulled off the vehicle.
The Ranchero has some problems as can be expected for a car over 40 years old that was used regularly. The rear main seal needs replacing and the power steering leaks. The car also has some dents. The seats and door panels were swapped into another car but were included in the auction in addition to the sport mirror, air conditioning compressor and mounting bracket, a kick panel speaker grill and horn pad. The original owners manual was also included in the auction. Obviously the car is not in original condition but it would definitely serve as a great base for a restoration or pro-touring project.
The listing for this item ended in the early morning of May 24th. It is uncertain if the reserve was met for the car because the owner stated in the ad that the highest bidder would take the car even if the reserve was not met. So how much does a one of 816 ever made Ranchero go for in good condition? The new owner picked this one up for a mere $4,000. With sales like this, it goes to show that there are incredible deals to be had- all you have to do is search for them.
