America’s car companies are getting old, as are many of the famous trademarks we know and love like Mustang, Suburban, and of course Mopar. In fact it has been 75 years since Chrysler first trademarked the combination of MOtor and PARts to form the MoPar name. To celebrate the American automaker has announced four special edition vehicles coming to an auto show near you.
First up is the 2012 Chrysler 300 Mopar Edition, which is the only vehicle in this list that will be offered up for sale. It will pack the same 363 horsepower 5.7 liter HEMI V8, but a revised final-gear ratio on the transmission drops the 0-60 time to the 5-second range. The Mopar 300 also gets a stiffer suspension and stickier tires to boost performance, in addition to bad ass looks accentuated by 20-inc 8-spoke wheels. Just 500 of these Mopar Edition Chrysler 300’s will be sold at a cost of $49,700.
The next three Mopar-rized vehicles are visions of what could be, rather than what is. Chrysler doesn’t seem intent on selling any of the three following vehicles, but maybe if they prove popular enough, the Pentastar will change its mind.
To that end there is the new Dodge Dart “GTS 2010 Tribute” Edition, which refers to the Dart’s horsepower after the addition of a cold air intake and exhaust system. Black wheels and a carbon fiber hood (with a hoodscoop that hints to the future ’13 SRT Viper’s hood) give this Dart an aggressive performance look, and we have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a front-wheel drive economy car (unfortunately.)
Not your style? Try on the Fiat 500 “Stinger,” which gets a bright yellow paint job and performance boost from cold air intake and exhaust upgrades. This is more a handling car though, with better brakes and rotors and a tuned suspension to go along with the bigger 17-inch wheels.
Alas, the Fiat 500 has limited interior room, which is where the Jeep Compass “True North” Edition comes in. Mopar lifted this Jeep 2-inches, gave it awesome-looking 16-inch black wheels, and on the inside they included pitch and roll gauges for serious off-roading action.
From this list of four Moparized automobiles, which was your favorite? We’re partial to the 300 and Dart ourselves…but the Compass and Fiat don’t look too bad either.
