We love America. Yeah, this country’s got its problems like our bordering-on-suicidal love affair with killing ourselves with junk food (KFC’s “Double Down”) and how terrifying the realization that the people you see shopping at Wal-Mart actually are a fair cross-section of this country’s populous, but these quibbles are small when in the shadow of this nation’s greatness.
And while we could go on and on about how nowhere else and at no other time has this democratic experiment been so successful and how this nation is comprised of the most diverse population of any on earth, with more varying races, religions, cultures, music, art and philosophies are found here than anywhere else, we’re a car magazine and not Fox News.
That being said, we’ll keep it simple: although other nations have fallen in love with our cars, the passion for performance, unrefined, unadulterated haulin’ ass and enjoying the act of driving American cars as much as we do, it’s just not the same. In recent years, American automakers have gone back to the well, and has tried to tap in to that visceral passion for these machines. Call it nostalgia, call it patriotism-for-marking, but we love these recent TV spots and think they’re some of the best advertisements we’ve seen in ages.
