Hot Rod Magazine has delivered a little holiday treat to street car racers around the country this week, with the unveiling of the 2016 Drag Week schedule. Next year’s rendition of the most grueling test of street and strip machinery will take place the week of September 11-16, with the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio, a short drive from Columbus, serving as home base for the trip.

National Trailer will host the customary registration and test and tune day on Sunday, September 11, with day one racing action kicking off on the 12th. The most powerful motorcade in the world will then trek north to the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio for day two. The U.S. 13 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan will host day three, before the competitors turn back south to the Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis for day four. The event will then wind back east to National Trail, where the adventure will wrap up and champions will be crowned.

The trip, using main roads, is just over 800 miles in distance and estimated at around 14 hours of total driving. With the Hot Rod staff creating their own unique routes, however, expect that distance to be tacked on to when all is said and done.

Hot Rod customarily opens up registration in the spring, and as always, the event is expected to completely sell out in short order, making registration itself quite the victory.

Many of the heavy hitters of year’s past are expected to be back at Drag Week 2016, including reigning and two-time champ Tom Bailey, Jeff Lutz, Joe Barry, Bryant Goldstone, and literally hundreds of others.
