With the success of the inaugural Midwest MuscleCar Challenge during Memorial Day weekend last year we weren’t surprised a bit to see the event return. For 2011 it will be held over labor Day weekend, but the location and format will be the same as the original. The 3-day event will begin on the Putnam Park Road Course near Green Castle, IN for the Hot Lap challenge where competitors will get the opportunity to run a few laps as quickly as possible. That evening they’ll drive to Mid American Air Center in Lawrenceville, IL where the remainder of the event will take place.
On the second day two different events will take place in both the autocross and the Speed Stop challenge. The autocross is becoming the event of choice at car shows all over the country, and we expect the competition to be fierce. The Speed Stop challenge is a unique event in which the competitors are racing the clock to go from a stopped position, to max speed, to stopped again, with the final stop placed in a perfect box. This event is open to full-fendered street cars only with the exception of 1934 model year cars or earlier with emphasis put on Pro Touring cars. All cars must be insured and wear 200-tread-wear minimum street tires that cannot be modified in any way. Sounds great to us!
