In Hockenheim, Germany, about 230 kilometers from the French border, participants in a quarter-mile event at the locally-based HockenheimRing, where Germany’s “Public Race Days” are held, are showing that American muscle is as prominent in Germany as they are here on our own shores. The motoring event at Hockenheim proudly boasts a vast collection of muscle cars, both stock and modified, and the people of Europe, as well as here in the States, are equally surprised to see so much of our American iron showing up in the Old World.
The event went off without a hitch, with all of the participants laying everything out on the line, enough so that one wonders just how much of a socio-geographic effect American muscle cars have on other cultures? A classic Mopar on the Autobahn? It’s been done. And one wonders to what degree does the German car culture have on the American automotive experience? It not be something that every motorhead wonders, but watching this video got our wheels spinning.
But regardless of the Autobahn and the wide-open driving experience that it may offer, Americans and Germans both know that American muscle is just flat-out fun, and that’s something that’s true if you’re into high-winding speed power, or axle-twisting, off-the-line performance for the straightaways.
