Rick Cox of Phoenix, Arizona, is the owner of this absolutely stunning 1955 Chevy Nomad. As the owner of an exotic car rental company, Rick knows his way around a cool car. He also had a pro-touring 1955 Chevy Nomad for about nine years. “While attending a Car Show, I got a very strong offer to sell the car and in a moment of weakness, I decided I would take the offer,” Rick told us. “For the past 10 years, I have regretted selling that Nomad”
Well, after years of regret, in 2014 Rick came across another Nomad for sale. After passing it up on the local area Cragslist, he saw it on eBay and decided not to let it go the second time around. “I bought the Nomad that day and hauled it back to my house,” Rick said. “Sixteen months later, here’s the finished car.” He says that he couldn’t be happier with it, and by the way, “No, it’s not for sale.”
This ’55 Chevy is obviously a seriously built custom classic that features an LS3 engine with a custom intake and coil covers, a 6L80 six-speed automatic transmission, front and rear air conditioner, power steering, adjustable coilover suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes powered by a hydraboost braking system. The frame and paint work was done by Kustom Kolors and the interior is by Ciadella out of Tempe, Arizona. The interior features a redesigned center console out of a 2014 Audi, power seats, and a chrome tilt steering column.
“Every piece of chrome has been re-chromed,” Rick explained. He also used all new glass, stainless steel trim, and the eyebrows above the headlights are custom, hand forged and chromed from brass. “They turned out better than the factory originals,” Rick told us. “In a few weeks I’m driving the Nomad to its first out of state car sow. I can’t wait to hit the road!”
Rick reached out and told us about his impressive car. We’d love to see the kind of cars that you are driving, so don’t hesitate to send us some pictures and a few details on your classic ride. It might just end up being Street Featured, just like Rick’s ’55 Nomad.
If you want your car or truck to be a part of our Street Feature series, all you have to do is shoot us an email and tell us about your ride and we will make it happen.
