While we have no desire to get into the “are hybrids a good thing” debate today, we do dig the hybrid approach that was taken in the build of this ’72 Chevelle. We found it listed over at one of our favorite websites in the world, Pro-Touring.com, and it’s a nice approach that may gain a lot of steam. It’s no question that the full Pro Touring approach of 20″ wheels, state of the art suspension, race car brakes, and a modern 500 plus horsepower motor is popular, but what about the guy that just wants to nicely update the muscle car he has?
Enter the “hybrid” Pro-Touring muscle car!
This owner’s ’72 Chevelle was nice when he began and he had no desire to go all out Pro Touring because he didn’t want to totally destroy what he already had.
We assume it still has the big block under the hood, but it now as a 700R4 overdrive transmission UMI Performance Tubular Upper and Lower front control arms, UMI Performance upper and lower rear control arms, QA1 coil-overs, Bilstein shocks, and front disc brake conversion with Baer calipers. Out back are just a new set of drums and a rebuilt factory rearend with 4:11’s. It also wears a nice set of 18’s all the way around with 245’s up front and 275’s out back.
