This car started out as an original restoration and turned into a Ram Jet 502 cubic-inch powered 1971 Chevelle. We all know how that goes right? The owner, Jack Chapman of Lubbock, Texas, just wanted a little more power. That was what made him pull out the 454 cubic-incher and the turbo-400 transmission in favor of the larger, 502 cubic-inch engine that was bumped up to 600 horsepower at the flywheel by Sunset Race craft.
With that engine, a Tremec 6-speed transmission, and an Eaton 3.43:1 geared positraction rearend, this thing can really get going. All of that power has no trouble lighting up the tires when Jack wants to give it a little gas.
But for relaxing in the car, it’s a different story. “Whenever a new DVD comes out, I can plug it into the JVC stereo and kick back to enjoy the movie,” Jack says. We know that if you could watch a movie in your car, you know you would. “Of course safely parked,” Jack assured us.
Featuring other such upgrades as a Dakota Digital gauge set, Painless wiring harness, Be Cool show radiator, and air conditioning, this car is fully loaded with options. The lowered Edelbrock suspension and 17 x 9.5-inch rally wheels also work with the stunning paint to make it look as good as it rides.
Jack reached out and told us about his impressive car. We’d love to see the kind of cars that you are driving, so don’t hesitate to send us some pictures and a few details on your classic ride. It might just end up being Street Featured, just like Jack’s 1971 Chevelle.
