With prices these days, it is hard to find even the roughest of project cars for a decent deal. But there are rare occasions when the perfect opportunity for the perfect person arises. And yes, we have come across such a deal. If you’ve ever wanted a rare Plymouth project car for cheap, pay close attention, because eBay may very well be calling your name.
The car up for sale is a ‘70 Plymouth Sport Fury S23. With only 689 made in 1970, this car is truly a rare gem. Originally created as a performance luxury car in a big package, the S23 was based off the two-door, hard-top Fury.
It came equipped with a standard 318cui engine but a 383cui engine was also offered in both 2 and 4-barrel options with the 4-barrel making the car a Super Commando.
Seen as a sort of muscle car poser, the S23 also came with dual hood runner stripes and reflective strobe stripes on the sides and rear deck lid.
The S23 up on eBay is in rough shape, but it does have plenty of potential as the car is complete and original. By running the VIN, we found that the car came equipped with the 4-barrel 383cui engine that pushes 330hp, making this a true Super Commando.
Although the original engine resides in the truck currently, it is complete-just in pieces. Along with the biggest optional engine, this S23 has the Torqueflite automatic transmission and dual exhaust, which went along with the Super Commando package.
The rear end, along with the transmission, is still on the car but we aren’t sure if it has the standard 3.23 gears or the optional 2.76s.
As to be expected, the Plymouth has some body rust of the fenders and quarters, and the paint is pretty bad. The good news, however, is that the floors, trunk floor and frame are all solid.
All the glass in the car is good except for a crack in the windshield. The bumpers, grills and headlight doors are also in decent shape.
Due to sitting in the sun most of its life, the interior has suffered with the typical sun bake and damage and will need to be replaced.
Rescued from a salvage yard years ago, the Plymouth comes with an Arizona salvage title. To better the chances of the car being sold, there is no reserve on the Plymouth and the starting bid is only $749.00.
That’s right, you could get this extremely rare Plymouth project car for as little as $750 bucks! If the Sport Fury S23 sounds like the perfect deal for you, you must act fast because the lot expires on September 17th. If the car is not sold, it could possibly be parted out, so if you want it, you need to act now. We look forward to seeing this car live up to its potential in the right hands- hopefully those of one of our readers.
