It’s official! FM3 Marketing Preside Jimi Day’s personal car, a ’69 AMC AMX dubbed AMXess that we introduced a few week ago, will be the feature car in the Centerforce Clutches booth at this year’s SEMA Show. The honor was topped off by a rare invitation to compete in the OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Street Car Invitational which occurs the day after the SEMA Show ends at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Pahrump, NV.
AMXess is full on pro-touring 1969 AMX and is the first AMC product to compete for the Ultimate Street Car title. Sporting an all-aluminum GM Performance Parts LS3 engine, AMXess puts out 550 HP at 6500 RPM with the help of a Comp Cams LS7 cam and West Bend Dyno performance tune.
Centerforce’s twin disc DYAD clutch helps tranfer the power to the Keisler RS500 5 speed and on to the wheels through the Speedway Engineering 9-inch floater with Randy’s Ring & Pinion Yukon aluminum third member and Detroit TrueTrac with 3.60 gears.
The custom designed front suspension from Heidt’s includes upper and lower control arms kept under control with Ridetech Coil Overs. The rear suspension is a custom designed four link from D&Z Customs also using Ridetech Coil Overs. Stopping power comes from 14” full floating rotors and six piston calipers from Wilwood. AMXess rolls on 18” Rushforth Nighttrain wheel shod with BFGoodrich KDW2s.
