SEMA 2011: MRT Performance Race-Inspired “TKO” 2012 V6 Mustang

For as long as the iconic Ford Mustang has been around, dating back to the classic first generation pony cars in 1964, lower-priced, more economical six-cylinder options have been offered by Ford. But never before have these inline six cylinder of V6 engine options made for anything that could even be considered a “performance” vehicle.” That was, until 2011, when the all-new 3.7L, 24-valve, DOHC V6 engine option was mated with the redesigned 2011 Mustang, pumping out 305 horses with an optional Mt82 6-speed manual transmission. Suddenly, the buying public, the aftermarket manufacturers, and the car designers had their interest piqued. And here at SEMA, the renowned customizers at MRT Performance have teamed up with Ford to bring the 2012 V6 Mustang into the limelight with an amazing creation known at the SEMA “TKO” Mustang.

ProCharger was the first aftermarket supercharger manufacturer to attack the new V6 pony car, and their air-to-air intercooled, self-contained supercharger unit has been mated with the 3.7L engine, along with MRT stainless steel MaxFlow exhaust to deliver over 400 horsepower to the crank for an unquestionably high performance Mustang.

From there, a SPEC low-mass clutch and Dynotech one-piece drive shaft take the power and torque to the Forgestar F14 18-inch wheels and Toyo Proxes 1 tires through an MRT solid mount powertain system to an Eaton E-locker carrier.

An H&R performance suspension setup with MRT-tuned chassis, Baer six-piston big brakes with 14-inch rotors and MRT brake ducts with cooling fans, J&M lower controls camber plates, and adjustable panhard bar, and an MRT ear axle cooling system complete the awesome chassis and suspension package on the “TKO” Mustang.

The exterior of the car features several great, race-inspired enhancements, including a custom, heat-extracting hood, custom paint, front splitter, quarter window inserts, fabricated front end, and rear recovery loops, all from MRT. As well, you’ll notice the 3dCarbon Boy Racer body kit and fender heat extractors and the functional ARP Performance rear wing, along with Silver Horse Racing’s aluminum fuel door.

Under the hood you'll find ProCharger's new air-to-air intercooled supercharger system, bringing the 3.7L DOHC V6 engine up to more than 400 horsepower.

For creature comforts, the interior sports MRT’s own 10-point roll cage, custom door panels, and modular audio system installation that’s comprised of Rockford Fosgate’s audio system. Other elements include an MGW short throw shfter, SCT touch screen data acquisition setup, Silver Horse push button start, CNS Motorsports fire extinguisher mount, and Sparco racing seats and harnesses to complete the true “racey” look that MRT has given this bitchin’ V6 Mustang.
