200MPH GMC Pickup Known as “Lil’ Sis” Breaks Barriers At Texas Mile

We’ve all heard of the Texas Mile, where cars are taken out to overcome speed barriers and drivers exercise their lead feet. Traditionally, supercars are the ones that light up the track best at the annual competition, reaching speeds upwards of 200mph. However, there are always exceptions to the rules and one little GMC pickup truck we found on Hooniverse is exactly that.

Owned by a man who goes by Flaco and well known in the LSX community, the ‘99 GMC Sierra 1500 “Lil’ Sis” is equipped with a 427cui LSX engine with a custom turbocharger system from Specialty Metal Craft, featuring a 88mm Precision turbocharger, and a NOS 75 shot plate. This setup pushes 1,124rwhp with 19psi of boost, putting it well above the power of most supercars. While Lil’ Sis’ setup and horsepower is far from little, the truck still remains less powerful than Hay Hauler, a ’04 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Flaco that  is equipped with a 414cui LSX engine with a 114mm turbocharger that pushes over 1,700rwhp and produces mid 8’s in the quarter mile. Thus the power difference sticks the GMC with the name Lil’ Sis.

With over 1,100rwhp, it is no surprise that Lil’ Sis hit the speed trap at the 2011 Texas Mile at 199mph. Pretty unbelievable, we know, but the YouTube video of the run is proof of the truck’s feat. Lil’ Sis didn’t just hit 199mph once, however. The truck actually hit the end of the mile-long track three times at that speed.

Breaking 200mph in the mile is well within the reach of Lil’ Sis. We look forward to seeing Flaco and his famed truck compete in the 2012 Texas Mile as he chases down that 200mph goal. In the meantime, enjoy Lil’ Sis tearing it up on the track in the video.
