There are certain things in life that should be, and shouldn’t be. The American flag should never touch the ground. Beer served during a summer baseball game should always be ice cold. What was done to this Charger is a great example of what shouldn’t be done. Ever. Our intrepid editor spotted it during the recent SEMA show and as a Mopar fanatic he couldn’t take his eyes off of it, but not in a good way.
This Charger is apparently a promotional vehicle for Super Buy Tires, and while we’re sure they’re a fine business we have to take umbrage with the artistic license they’ve used with this DUB edition of the General Lee.
The General Lee is likely the world’s most famous car, and while it hasn’t been on prime time network television since the 1980’s it still has a loyal and loving fan base. Messing around with the General’s wheel selection is a bit like seeing a McDonald’s sign with three golden arches instead of two; it simply makes no sense.
We do understand why they’ve chosen to use a General Lee as a marketing car (and hey, it worked on us), but in the future we’d prefer that Super Buy Tires return this General to it’s true glory and throw on a set of 14 or 15 inch diameter 10 spoke vectors with whatever tire choice they like.
