The mad scientists at Livernois Motorsports have done it again with yet another incredible concoction of raw Ford horsepower…this time with a killer 1,000 horsepower GT500 Mustang. Livernois recently finished up a GT500 for a customer in Massachusetts dubbed the “GT800R” that cruised out the back door producing 862 horses and 798 ft-lbs of torque at the rear wheels…enough to bet 9.7-second, 148 mile per hour quarter mile passes at a bulky 4,090 pounds.

This evidently caught the attention of another customer, who dropped off his 2009 GT500 with aspirations of breaking 1,000 rear wheel horsepower. And thus, the “GT1000R” was born. This car has a list of modifications so long that it’d be much easier to just list what remains from the factory. This venomous Snake is powered by a Livernois-prepared big bore GT wet sump aluminum block, CNC cylinder heads, Livernois GT500 Stage 1C camshaft, and topped off with a 4.0-liter Whipple supercharger. The engine measures 358 cubic inches, and features Carillo rods, custom Diamond pistons, and a Canton oil pan. Also onboard is a plethora of custom exhaust modifications, drivetrain upgrades, and performance suspensions components.

On the dyno, this bad boy lived up to its intended namesake, churning out 1,006 horsepower and 916 ft-lbs of torque at the tires! Check out the video of the GT1000R taking a spin on the dyno at Livernois. For more on the GT1000R, visit the project page at Livernois Motorsports.
