Has there ever been a more iconic muscle car than the ’69 Camaro? It’s the year 2018, the car is 49 years old, and you can still see a countless number of them at any given show or cruise night. The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association is planning to pay homage to this most-revered cruiser, as it is celebrated in spectacular fashion next summer at the Goodguys 22nd PPG Nationals, July 12 through 14 in Columbus, Ohio. On that weekend, sixty-nine of history’s most-significant 1969 Camaros will be showcased in a special Golden Anniversary exhibit inside the Ohio Expo Center’s Cardinal Hall.

The ’69 Camaro was available with a multitude of trim packages, and at the top of that option list was the all-aluminum big-block-powered ZL1. Arguably, the ZL1 was king of the ’69 Camaros, and a killer street/strip car. But, let’s not forget the Z/28 model, which offered buyers a sportier ride with its road course-inspired suspension. The Goodguys’ Golden Anniversary ’69 Camaro Exhibit will feature a wide range of ’69 models.

“Nothing quite like this has been done before,” said Ed Capen of Goodguys. “We have reached out to General Motors to get this event on their radar to offer whatever manufacturer support they can for this historic gathering.

The sixty-nine vehicles will be included by invitation only, and will be carefully selected based on individual car significance, and its impact on the hot rod industry. “We are looking for the best 1969 Camaros in the world, including race cars, Pro Touring and Pro Street, factory-stock models, as well as full restorations,” Capen said. “We’re putting out the call this early, to allow those who would like to be part of the exhibit time to plan. If you have built or restored a significant Camaro, or know of one, we would like to speak with you,” Capen stated.
