There are tons of parts on a car more interesting and exciting than a transmission fill tube. That is until you’re making serious power, creating crazy pressure in the trans, and making a mess of your engine bay by blowing ATF (automatic transmission fluid) everywhere. Enter Hughes Performance locking transmission fill tubes.
Let’s face it, a trans fill tube is a relatively pedestrian part, but if you’re going to build one, you might as well make the best damn trans fill tube there is. That was the approach Hughes Performance took when putting this little guy together. The fill tube doesn’t just fill, though. It also serves as a point for maintenance checks, so it’s just as important as any other piece of the build.
Besides, if you’re spending countless hours and dollars building a badass hotrod, do you really want to cheap out when it comes to the little things? Didn’t think so.
These fill tubes are actually pretty trick, and are available for a myriad of applications. Initially they were available for the venerable 700R4, and Powerglide transmissions, but were met with such a great response, Hughes decided to up the ante, and offer them for a whole host of other transmissions. Check the list below and see if they make one for your ride – chances are, they do.

The fill tubes are all gold-irritated, and have mounting tabs for whatever application you select. They would make a solid addition to any build you’re putting together.
Installing one of these fill tubes on your ride likely won’t win you any car show awards, or races for that matter. It will keep your engine bay clean, and the dipstick where it belongs, though. Sure, ATF is basically a detergent anyway, but who wants to spend time wiping down an engine bay when you should be driving?
