PennGrade 1 Oil recently became the official sponsor of Porsche Club of America (PCA) and the Club Racing programming. With over 100,000 active members across North America, PCA is the world’s largest single-brand auto-enthusiast organization.
“We are one of the few oil companies left in the industry that saw late-model cars still need zinc and phosphorus in their oil. That’s why we have Penngrade 1,” said Nick Dixon, regional sales manager for D-A Lubricants, parent company to PennGrade, PennGrade1 as well as D-A Lubricants itself.
“Many historic cars came out of the factory with a 20w-50 in it,” Dixon said, adding the most popular weight is 20W-50, because it works well with a lot of air-cooled classic vehicles.
“We keep all the cars running, and it has been around for about 60 years,” Dixon said. He added that PennGrade is tri-polar in nature, meaning it wants to stick to metal surfaces whereas other oils don’t have that cling. “This separates us from the pack. We know that engine wear begins when you turn the key. With Penngrade 1, that oil is always there. This oil doesn’t break down” he said.
Dixon noted PennGrade 1 is cut from Pennsylvania-Grade Crude Oil from the Bradford Oil Field in Bradford, Pennsylvania, where it was first extracted in 1859. The oil extracted is green and contains enhanced levels of zinc and phosphorous, which protect vital engine components.
