A new forged competition wheel jointly produced by WELD and CCW Forged Performance, debuted at the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) event at Barber Motorsports Park as part of the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama near Birmingham, Alabama April 22-24.
The 18” WELD/CCW designed and built Roush Velocity wheels were produced exclusively for Roush Performance. The wheels are mounted on the Roush Road Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302R‘s of Jack Roush Jr. and Nate Stacy, who compete in the GTS class. The 2016 Roush Performance Road Racing team is managed by driver Dean Martin’s KohR Motorsports.
“We are very proud of the wheel design and the beginning of our relationship with KohR and Roush Performance,” said Norm Young, president and CEO of WELD. “The association of two powerhouse heritage brands is great for the market, especially when we can collaborate to create both a competitive advantage on the track and a superior product for the street.”
Roush Jr. and Stacy are off to a good start to the season with Roush Jr. having chalked up double wins at the World Challenge GTS race at the St. Petersburg Grand Prix and Stacy securing a third place finish.
The new WELD/CCW wheel will be used for the balance of 2016 season. “We are excited to work with a premium wheel manufacturer like WELD/CCW,” said Jack Roush Jr. “They build a great looking wheel that will stand up to the punishment that we dish out.”
After the debut with Roush Performance, the new product will soon be available as 19” wheels for the aftermarket.
