GM’s latest engine is the direct-injected LT1, and it’s a great powerplant making excellent horsepower with good fuel economy. But few of us hot rodders have gotten our hands on one yet because so far it is only availalbe in the new Corvette.

But the brain trust at RHS must have been able to get hold of one but also to rip it apart and see what makes it tick. Because they have come up with two updated cylinder head designs for the LT1. The first is a performance casting that bolts onto existing LT1 engines to make more power. That’s pretty cool, but what really caught our attention is the LT1 head they have retrofitted to work with LS engines. The LT1 retrofit does away with the direct injection mechanicals so that the engine retains its port fuel injection setup. But RHS’s Brian Reese says this new head will outperform any stock LS head out there.

Right now the head is still in the development stage, so we only get to see an SLS mockup, but this is still exciting news. You can keep up with RacingHeadService.com for future updates.
