If you want more power out of your LS engine but don’t want to break the bank or practically rebuild your entire engine doing it, then Crane Cams’ new PowerMaxLS cams look like a great deal for you.
The PowerMaxLS cams are a line of direct-fit camshafts for–you guessed it–LS engines. In fact, the cams are specifically designed for 4.8 to 6.0 liter LS series engines to maximize power while utilizing the rest of the stock valve train. This means you don’t have to spend the bucks to change out your valve springs, retainers, valves, or even lifters. Crane says their goal was to design a cam that can squeeze the most power out of the LS engine without exceeding the travel of a stock valve spring. We’re told these cams also maintain nearly stock idle characteristics, vacuum and driveability while increasing torque and horsepower throughout the rpm range.
Crane has obviously done extensive testing while developing these new cams, but what’s cool is they’ve provided dyno sheets with several different engines so you can see exactly what you are getting. For more info, you can check out Crane Cams’ web page on the new PowerMaxLS cams here.
