Comp Cams has introduced a new solid roller lifter for Sportsman and professional racers–and even high-end street machines.
Comp has a highly successful lineup of solid roller lifters already, but these are different because these new lifters use a bronze bushing between the axle and wheel instead of the usual needle bearings. Needle-bearing roller lifters are typically more efficient and have slightly less drag, but the increased contact area between the bushing and axle makes bushed lifters better able to handle super agressive valvetrains.
Besides the bronze bushings, these Sportsman Solid Roller Lifters are engineered with several features to optimize performance. Like Comp’s needle bearing Sportsman lifters, the bushed version features two pressurized oiling holes as well as an edge-orifice oil feed to the wheel to ensure these critical areas always have adequate lubrication, even under the most extreme conditions. The Sportsman lifters also have a shallower oil band than most lifters to help improve the lifter body’s strength and rigidity.
These lifters are built from tough 8620 steel which exhibits great strength and wear resistance. Comp’s bushed Sportsman solid roller lifters are currently available for both big and small block Chevrolet engines, small block Fords and big block Chrysler/Hemi engines, and we’re told there will be even more coming soon.
