Classic pickups may look great, but they still ride like an old truck. And if you try to drop in a modern engine with, the increased horsepower only serves to magnify the weaknesses in the chassis geometry. Fortunately, smart companies like Heidts Suspension Systems have engineered modern suspension systems that bolt right into classic cars and pickups.
Heidts’ latest invention is a heavy duty four link rear suspension and rear end housing for 1967 through ’72 Chevy C-10 pickup trucks. The system features four beefy 1.75-inch suspension bars fitted out with one-inch rod ends–which Heidts says are the largest in the industry. A three-position panhard bar mount controls the rear end’s lateral location, and the ride height is adjustable.
This rear end kit should be able to handle about all the horsepower you can throw at it and vastly improve the handling on any classic C-10.
