In 1971 Italian car builder De Tomaso began producing the Pantera. It was designed by American Tom Tjaarda, but it definitely had a strong European look. Of course, that wasn’t the only American tie the Pantera sported–like the more famous Cobra it was powered by a big Ford V8.
De Tomaso ended production of the Pantera in 1991, and compared to other Italian cars of the same vintage it hasn’t held up as well.
But that didn’t keep the famous Ringbrothers from applying their own special touch to a 1971 Pantera. The car has been completely updated and now looks as modern as any supercar being produced today. Horsepower is still provided by American technology, but now it is a Chevy LS3 custom built by Wegner Motorsports and producing 600 horsepower.
Incredibly, Nike also played a part in the creation of this car. Mike and Jim Ring say that after meeting representatives from Nike at the 2012 SEMA show, they decided to collaborate on a future car, and this car–named ADRNLN–is it. The team of Nike designers worked with Ringbrothers to design an interior that presented individualized color and material experiences unique to driver and passenger – the driver’s highlighting performance fit and luxury excellence and the passenger’s emphasizing confident simplicity and superior comfort.
