Kenneth Davis’ 1955 Chevy Nomad “Fastmad” has been named Goodguys 2010 Vintage Air Custom Rod of the Year. The gorgeous custom Nomad was chosen as a finalist at the Heartland Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa this summer. Kenneth is the father of Kenny Davis, proprietor of Kenny Davis Hot Rods in Rogers, Arkansas.
Smooth can only begin to describe this really red, really righteous ’55 Nomad. The laser-straight body remains mostly stock, save for the shaved emblems, tucked bumpers and billet grille. The custom engine bay features smoothed panels with a contrasting pewter color to showcase the rumpty-rump 454 big block Chevy mill.
The saddle brown leather interior sports a custom console. The wagon rolls in style on 18 and 20-inch Legacy II wheels from Billet Specialties. For the win, Davis will receive a customized toolbox courtesy of Snap-on as well as his Custom Rod of the Year of the Year award while in Scottsdale at the season-ending 13th Southwest Nationals, November 19-21 at Westworld.
Davis’ fellow finalists for the Custom Rod of the Year award included Bucky Gay, Highland, UT (’66 Chevelle), Scotty Gray, LaHabra Heights, CA (’55 Nash Wagon), Dick Bates, Easly, SC (’62 Chevy Bel Air), Bill Pendleton, New Castle, PA (’61 Chevy) and Brent Elsen, Sioux City, IA (’66 Chevelle).
Congratulations to Kenneth and all finalists!
