Winning the coveted Goodguys Truck of the Year Award is an amazing achievement for any rodder that takes countless hours of work and dedication to achieve. But if you’re a rodder at heart but not in the hands, you’re in luck because this weekend at the Mecum Dallas, Texas Auction you have a chance to own a Goodguys Truck of the Year Award winner without all the planning, effort and time that went into creating it. Classic truck fans, eat your heart out.
The 1956 Ford F100 pickup that will cross the auction block on Saturday September 8th was the 2010 Truck of the Year Award winner for good reason.
This fully custom truck features a lowered windshield, pie-cut hood, custom front and rear roll pans, hand-fabricated aluminum bed with hinged lift-up floor bed, and a custom PPG Black and Tan paint scheme.
Moving into the mechanics of the truck, under the hood you’ll find a Merlin 509ci big block Chevy engine with Hilborn electronic fuel injection that produces a substantial 560hp and 585ft-lbs of torque. Helping push that power to the pavement is a Tremec TKO600 5-speed transmission connected to a Ford 9-inch rearend. The truck sits atop a full Roadster Shop chassis with air ride suspension system. For a little extra flair, the front suspension and wheel openings were moved forward 4 inches.
Extra features on the truck include 13-inch Wilwood brakes, 20 and 22-inch Billet Specialties Stiletto wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich rubber, and a fully custom leather interior with custom dash and console that match the exterior paint scheme.
In addition to its Goodguys Truck of the Year designation, this classic truck also won the 2010 F100 Super Nationals Truck of the Year Award and was a 2011 SEMA Show vehicle. If you’re looking for an elegant yet powerful vintage truck, you won’t find one much nicer than this.
The truck is set to cross the auction block at the Dallas auction at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Convention Center.
Be sure to stop by the event for your chance to add this amazing award-winning truck to your hot rod collection.
