1956 F-100 Pro-Street Buildup With TCI Chassis and Boss Nine Power

For many of us in this hobby vehicles can have sentimental value. Sometimes it’s our first car, or sometimes it’s one that belonged to someone we were close to. In the case of Bob Black, it’s the truck that belonged to his dad, which is also the truck that he learned to drive in. Bob inherited this truck from his father and is taking it to a whole new level.

Starting out with a TCI Engineering chassis, the front suspension is now fully independent using a TCI Coil Spring IFS kit, and the rear features the TCI four-link setup. Out back you’ll find a Currie Enterprises fabricated nine-inch rear differential and the rear wheel tubs have been enlarged, we’re sure in anticipation of some healthy sized rubber. The body is finished in a beautiful dark blue hue reminiscent of Bob’s father’s favorite color.

What really caught our attention however is sitting between those front frame rails. The engine is a John Kasse built Boss Nine. Measuring out at a stout 572 cubic inches, this beast puts out 794 hp and 750 lb.-ft. of torque! Backing up the beast is a healthy C6 transmission. From the photos it appears that while he’s burning down the tires, Black can do so with all the creature comforts as a modern truck. This is due to the a Billet Specialties serpentine drive mounted to the front of the engine that includes an AC compressor and Power Steering pump.

Big Head Motorsports is handling much of the fabrication duties on this project. The headers are custom built and they also modified the firewall, built the rest of the exhaust, wheel tubs and inner wheel wells for the truck. Stopping power for the truck will be the responsibility of Wilwood disc brakes hanging on at all four corners.

We’ve included a few pictures of the build here but there are many more and you can follow the trucks’ progress over on the TCI FaceBook page. We can’t wait to see this one fired up and on the road.
