On Saturday, August 17th the historic Mo-Kan Dragway in Asbury, Missouri will play host to arguably one of the best drag race events dedicated to early era dragsters, gassers, rails, bikes, and stock cars.
Gates will open to the public at 11:00 a.m. so get there early for some prime parking and grab yourself a couple of seats right where you can soak up the smell of octane. Friday, August 16th, the night before will be the kickoff party at the event’s host hotel. The festivities will be headlined by Texas natives, Pushrod – an awesome no frills band that plays good ol’ gasser rock.
The H.A.M.B. committee has also noted that this is a rain or shine event. So, if you cringe like cats in a monsoon, the H.A.M.B. Drags will continue with or without you.
If spectating isn’t enough to get your juices flowing and you’ve got the stones to race, you will have to pre-register. Due to an increase in registerers at previous races the H.A.M.B. committee has decided to opt out of long lines down at the track for the online method. Get registered for the drag here.
This came straight from the ham’s mouth, “the H.A.M.B. Drags is a traditional pre-’65 drag racing event reserved for traditional hot rods and race cars only. Please leave your tubed, modern race cars at home.” For detailed information on racing classes for the event you can also check out the breakdown here.
Dust off those racing goggles and leather skull caps because you won’t want to miss the classic drag race event of the year. See you on the strip!
