Video: ScottieDTV, Matt’s 1936 Ford Coupe

We here at Rod Authority have a thing for 1936 Ford’s, so when a ’36 5-window as nice as the one you see here comes across our screen, our interest is most definitely piqued!

Steve Holcomb of Pro Auto Custom Interiors in Knoxville, Tennessee recently finished working his magic on this beautiful coupe and the results speak for themselves. The stock bench was replaced in favor of a pair of full power Ford Explorer buckets wrapped in a very classy red leather. The door panels and trunk also feature matching upholstery. Steve and owner Matt opted to keep the patterns old school by going with traditional rolls and pleats. Power windows and a Vintage Air unit ensure just the right amount of air flow within the comfy cabin. On the floor, color matching carpet is flanked by a cool pair of aftermarket aluminum sill plates.

More often than not, most ’36 Fords have a whole slew of body mods, but this one was kept completely stock. Every piece of trim and every panel is just as it was when it left the assembly line nearly 80 years ago. According to Matt and friend Don who did a fair amount of work on the car, the coupe was found in very nice condition after being found sitting in a warehouse for many years. So after refinishing the body, it was sprayed in a very nice dark blue. Screenshot 8

Underneath that gorgeous bodywork and stunning interior lives a TCI chassis, directed by a Mustang II IFS with tubular control arms and adjustable coilovers. Out back, a tried-and-true Ford 9″ rearend puts the power to the pavement. Under the hood of this gorgeous 5-Window, you’ll find a fuel injected Ford Racing X-302 crate engine, dyno tested at 340 horses. Backing up the small block Ford is a bullet proof AOD 4-speed auto.

Matt’s already taken the ’36 to a few shows and plans to continue doing so for many years to come!
