And The Winner Of The ’32 Deuce Coupe Goodguys Giveaway Car Is….

We all crossed our fingers and hoped that we would be the one to take home the 2013-2014 Goodguys Giveaway Car, a near clone to GG founder Gary Meadors’ ’32 Deuce Coupe, but when all was said and done, it was one lucky San Diego man that drew the key that started this fine piece of machinery. In a recent press release from the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association, the GG team congratulated the 28-year-old winner and explained the events that led up to his lucky key turn. Here are the highlights!

Eric Morgan, the 28-year-old son of avid Goodguys member Terry Morgan, was on hand at the 2014 PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio last weekend as a stand-in for his father for the famed Goodguys Giveaway Car drawing. Over the course of the last year, 34 lucky contenders were chosen from the hundreds that entered for their chance at getting the one and only key that would bring the Kindig-It Designs-built ’32 Deuce Coupe Giveaway Car to life.

Terry Morgan was one of those lucky 34 and sent his son to stand in for him at the Columbus event.

With every key that didn’t turn over the car, the anticipation of both the crowd and contenders was rising.

Eric Morgan was 24th in line and ultimately held the key to success as he had pulled the winning key that would start the hot rod.

As soon as Morgan’s key turned over the hot rod’s GM Performance Ramjet 350 ci engine, the crowd erupted in excitement as Morgan looked toward the sky in gratitude.

“I cannot believe we won this car,” Morgan was quoted as saying in the press release. “Thank you Goodguys and Kindig-It Design for an amazing hot rod!”

Once the ceremony was over, Morgan and his girlfriend drove the Deuce Coupe to a family member’s house in Indianapolis to make arrangements to get the car home to San Diego. Once back in California, the car will join the Morgan’s other hot rod, a bright red 1957 Bel Air that the father-son duo began working on when Eric was just 16 years old.

Congratulations goes out to the Morgans on their amazing new addition to their garage!
