Bo Huff’s, “The Hustler” is an example of subtle mastery. According to an interview that aired on www.legends.thewwbc.net this ’56 Chevy is the result of Bo using an old friend’s ’56, from back in his high school days, as a muse.
“John cruised his area of Utah with Bo riding shotgun most of the time, and since Bo never had a car himself in those days, John’s ’56 Chevy 210 was the ride of choice for the both of ‘em!” according to an excerpt from Johnny King, the interview host.
John ended up passing away in a car crash and according to Bo’s interview he isn’t aware of any of John’s family being alive anymore either. When asked if “The Hustler” was a tribute to his friend John Douglas, Bo responded, “Well, either that, or because I never had one as a kid and I’m trying to fill that…but, I respect John he treated me good and he died really young.”
The turquoise paint job is, in Bo’s words, “tasty freeze” and we couldn’t agree more. The almost-identical shade of pinstriping adds some flare that would make any kustom enthusiast curse a few expletives in admiration.
“It matters if you’re an inch higher or an inch lower…[The ’56] looks so good down on the ground with lake pipes…I wanted it to tail drag slightly because that’s the way I remember John’s car.”
For those who are fans of as well as opposed to lowered cars alike Bo had some words of wisdom, “Don’t just lower something just to say that you lowered it. Lower it so that it has character.”
