We’ve said it time and time again–the art of building is all about personal expression–i.e. you don’t build your own ride for anyone but yourself, or at least that’s the idea. The truck featured on this week’s Big Muscle episode from Jack Dick Customs is just that type of vehicle, and because of that, we’re prepared for it to get some flack. But hear us out–this ’53 White COE may not be your style of vehicle, or even close to being in your realm of “cool”, but one thing we can all agree on is that it has a unique personality and is truly one of a kind! Check out the truck in the video above!
Created by Scott Saterla and Ben McCloy of Jack Dick Customs, this 1953 White COE is one unique farm truck. Sure, it may look like it just pulled out of a barn circa 1959, but the truck is actually quite the project vehicle that took a lot of work and innovative ideas to put together.
First off, the truck features a chassis from a 1979 Ford F100 pickup truck from the differential back.
The frame was cut by 28-inches to fit the design Saterla and McCloy had in mind and then fitted with the cab of the ’53. Under the cabover, you’ll find a 400 M motor, otherwise known as a stroked out 351 ci Cleaveland engine, which is tied to a FMX transmission. This combination pushes the engine’s not incredible amount of power to the rear wheels by way of a 12-inch driveline and the stock rearend from the ’79 donor pickup.
Now, like host Mike Musto says, the truck isn’t about potential bench racing wins, or how many chrome components were sourced for it. Rather, the truck is about creating conversation and we think that that is exactly what Saterla and McCloy have done with “The Green Monster.”
