Russo and Steele is known for their classic car auctions, selling everything from European sports cars, American muscle cars, hot rods, and customs. In particular, they will be auctioning “The Deuce”, a 1932 Ford Model B that was one of the late Boyd Coddington’s final builds.
For those who don’t know, Boyd Coddington was a renowned American hot rod designer, who owned his own hot shop and had his own television show, Hot Rod on TLC. Famous for his clean, elegant designs, he trademarked his own look that combines old school design with modern aesthetic trends.
A pioneer of the custom billet wheels, Coddington’s passing in 2008 struck the hot rod world by storm. However, his wife has continued his respected legacy.
“The Deuce” will be auctioned off June 5-7, 2015 at Russo and Steele’s 3rd Annual Newport Beach, California Auction. This classic 1932 Ford Model B has been regarded as America’s quintessential hot rod.
The Deuce’s popularity throughout the years kept hot rod culture alive, making appearances in popular culture. Being a relatively easy car to strip down, Ford Model B’s were cheap and plentiful.
A work of pure craftsmanship, Coddington’s Deuce was one of the final projects to leave his California shop. Featuring Coddington’s signature design and construction prowess, The Deuce sits on a completely hand-made chassis.
Moreover, the body was completely hand-formed by Marcel’s Custom Metal Shaping in Corona, California. With an elongated roof and side panels, this Model B was completely reimagined, fitted with custom fenders and a lift top.
A Roush-built Ford 358 cubic-inch V8 churns under the hood of this Model B with electronic fuel injection, MSD Ignition, roller cam and rocker arms, and special custom exhaust headers, all tied to a Ford overdrive transmission.
A master at his craft, don’t miss your chance to own a piece of history. How much do you think this beauty will be going for?
