Earlier this year, Fast Five came out, bringing viewers the biggest stunt yet- stealing a bank vault from the heart of Rio. Although the movie ended rather definitely, a bonus scene left everyone anticipating a sixth movie.
In this scene, Monica Fuentes (played by Eva Mendes) walks into the office of Agent Luke Hobbs (played by a dripping wet with baby oil Dwayne Johnson) carrying a file regarding evidence of a military convoy that was hijacked in Berlin. Instinctively, Hobbs thinks it is Toretto back at his games, but what he discovers is quite the contrary…
A photo in the file clearly shows Letty Ortiz (played by Michelle Rodriguez) as being part of the hijacking. The only problem is Ortiz, Toretto’s long time girlfriend, was killed in a money-run gone bad in the fourth movie, Fast and Furious.
This bonus scene led everyone to believe that another movie in the series was sure to be made. But when? According to the Cincaitalk blog, the sixth movie will be hitting theaters in May of 2013. The same cast of powerful characters is expected return to the movie once again directed by Justin Lin.
But wait! There’s more…
Only recently has The Hollywood Reporter published a conversation between Vin Diesel and THR that Fast 7 will certainly be filmed as the fifth installment was so lucrative.
Diesel explained, “With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space…”
“We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages,” Diesel went on. “The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’”
