It’s easy to find an old diamond in the rough by driving around your ‘hood for every open garage or barn door you can find. But there’s another type of hoarder that is more difficult to discover for eagle-eyed hunters. There is no way to discover this stash other than word-of-mouth or having the hoarder tell you about his collection.
Unless you scan the classified or, in this case, eBay and discover your automotive wet dream is as close as your right hand (to click on the mouse, you silly).
Bruce Cliche of Calais, Vermont has a homestead filled with automotive Valhalla. His parents owned this lot and in 1971 he bought out his siblings and moved in. As a guy suffering from the same automotive affliction as all of us, he bought and sold cars while accumulating parts and stashing them throughout his property. Now it’s time for him to sell everything, including 3.9 acres of land!
He claims there are over one million parts and hundreds of cars. What sounds preposterous may actually be truth in advertising: line up all his carburetors and it’ll run the length of a drag strip.
And if you’re afraid this is just another Chevy guy selling Bowtie parts, you Brand Xers are in luck because while Bruce admits to having owned over 300 Camaros, there’s plenty of Buick and Mopar stuff to balance it out. Here’s the tip of the iceberg:
- Rally clusters for Barracuda/Challenger and GTOs
- Commando 273 V-8 for A-body Mopars
- Essex grille (that was a sister make to Hudson starting in the late-1920s)
- 1970-71 Torino GT dash with ribbon tach
- 9-inch Ford rear ends
- A few hundred Ford Model A parts
- Ford Kelsey-Hayes 16″ wire wheels
- Cosworth Vega motor
- Lincoln V-12 block & crank
All that and plenty more for a cool $1.6 million. I mentioned you’ll be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of picturesque Vermont, right? That’s the state that doesn’t arrest you for shooting shotguns while you peel out – what’s not to like?
