Whether it’s spending time with family, exchanging gifts, volunteering to serve dinner to those less fortunate or doing other charitable acts, the holidays are a time for giving. One man knows that better than most, being given of his life last week after being saved from his vehicle after a car accident in Dallas, Texas. As we found out from Autoblog, it wasn’t just a regular person who saved him, though. It was none other than Santa Claus.
After being involved in a serious front-end collision on December 21st, Michael Walker sat stunned in his Explorer Sport Trac, unable to gather himself to get out of the vehicle. That’s when Brad Luddeke, dressed in a Santa suit, jumped to Walker’s assistance and pulled him out of the vehicle as flames started to engulf it. Luddeke had been delivering presents to needy families prior to coming across the accident and took no shame in jumping to action and later directing traffic around the smoky accident in his Santa attire.
After Walker was pulled from the vehicle, it exploded, leaving us to question what would have happened had Luddeke not been there. Thankfully, Walker was uninjured and was only momentarily incapacitated after the accident occurred.
While both Walker and Luddeke met literally by accident, it wasn’t the first time they had come in contact with one another. As it turns out, Luddeke’s son Jordan, who was killed in an auto accident seven years ago, was close high school friends with Walker’s daughter. The two men figured out their close tie after they talked following the accident.
We’re glad that Luddeke was in the right place at the right time and was able to help Walker in his time of need. Our thoughts go out to Luddeke who believes that his son had a hand in helping Walker.
