People always want what they can’t have. This statement is true with just about anything; money, expensive homes, private jets, and more often than not; rare, and expensive cars. Everybody has their own taste in scarce metal, and although most of the world’s population gravitate towards ultra-rare, ultra-extravagant exotic iron from across the pond, if you’re reading this then you’re like us and prefer the exclusivity of owning a limited production model from Detroit.
Thanks to big name auctions like Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele, classic muscle cars from the ‘60s and ‘70s have had huge price tags for some time, and it’s pretty much impossible for guys like us to get our hands on cars like Yenko Camaro’s and L88 Corvettes today.
However, even though it seems like an impossibility now, it wasn’t too long ago when you could flip through the pages of an Auto Trader or the classified section of your local newspaper and get lucky in finding the car of your dreams – for cheap!
We saw this vintage classified ad for what could very well be a legit, ’69 COPO Chevelle “SS 427” advertised for the now lowly ridiculous sum of $3000. The ad speaks for itself, and as we assume the car has since long be sold (probably a few times by now), we can’t help but grin and shake our heads at how easy it was to acquire a [possible] COPO Chevelle just a few decades ago.
