Edelbrock-Equipped Engine Raffled Off at Record-Breaking Fundraiser

There is nothing like winning a raffle at an automotive tradeshow, but it’s even better when a deserving charitable organization benefits as well. That’s exactly what happened last year at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Tradeshow with the PRI/Sunnen Charity Engine Sweepstakes.

Featuring an Edelbrock manifold and parts from many other industry leaders, a Reher-Morrison engine worth thousands was given away to one lucky winner. But he wasn’t the only winner. So was Victory Junction, the organization that raised over $30,000 from the raffle.

The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a race-themed summer camp for children with chronic illnesses. Started by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam, the organization was the 2011 beneficiary of the PRI and Sunnen sponsored Charity Engine Sweepstakes.

Built by Reher-Morrison Racing Engines, the Dart big-block engine had a 4.625-inch bore and a 4.375-inch stroke. In addition to Edelbrock, many companies came together to help make the Reher-Morrison charity engine possible, including MSD Ignitions, VP Fuels, Moroso, Mr. Gasket, Fel Pro and JE Pistons.

With the plethora of industry leading companies coming together, Reher-Morrison was able to build an engine capable of 1,200hp and 860 foot-pounds of torque worth $26,500.

So who won the engine? That honor went to Jim Hughes of Hughes Performance out of Phoenix, Arizona. However, it was really Victory Junction and all the kids they help that were the real winners. From raffle tickets alone, the organization raised $31,590.

With almost $32,000 raised from the Charity Engine Sweepstakes, Victory Junction set the new record for fundraising.

Our congratulations goes out to Victory Junction for raising a ton of money for their cause and to our friends at Edelbrock for being a vital part of the Charity Engine Sweepstakes’ success.
